FINISH.

Can you believe we're on the last day of the first month of 2024? Time waits on no man.

I was talking to the Father this morning & shared, You've given me so much to do. I need to regroup. His response was, you have today. Initially, my literal mind processed the response as great, this evening, after work, I'll organize all my thoughts & plans and start fresh in February.

No!

He meant, I literally have NOW.

John 9:4, Jesus said, “I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work.”

We have to learn to work while it's day. & use what the Lord has given us, which is NOW.

January is notorious for starting gym memberships, relationships, new jobs & other buried goals. By February many have waned and March only the persistent exist.

The issue is, God placed us here (earth) on purpose with purpose. At this exact time, He planned for you to enter this point in History. & make HIStory.

As Believers, when we meet the Father on Judgment Day, only what we do for Him will last.

It's time to FINISH.

As mentioned in the video, Ken Walker visited my college class to help them with their brand.

My closing remarks was an admonishment to be careful around "talking" about ideas. Studies indicate if you talk about something you're excited to do that's upcoming, Dopamine is released.

In other words, your body experiences a high. Unfortunately, that conversation high proves to be many of our stopping points.

*What's unfinished for you?

*Why were you placed on this earth?

*Are you working towards this daily?

Some people do not like these conversations because they feel it is too "me" focused. This is called self-sabatoge. GOD uses you to accompish His will on the earth. Whether you're young, old, disabled, in sports, or a doctor, you're needed.

Maybe you don't have an issue with what you're supposed to be doing but desire resources, help, a blueprint.

I was talking with my best friend yesterday & told her she is like Dorothy. You're looking around & able to identify & even use the gifting in others when you have had what you needed all along, it's you. Just go in the direction of what you have an idea about & trust God to help you complete the process.

Fast forward, I'm sharing in a business meeting today my ideas and the way to accomplish it. The response was, you are your answer Ebony. Just do it!

In that moment, I knew this word wasn't just for me. The exact stance I shared with someone on completion came back to me in less than 24 hours.

Matthew 7:3-5 speaks on not looking at the speck in another's eye when you have a log in yours.

The verse is related to Judgment. Many of us come to a conclusion of the best way for others to do this or that but are unable to cross our personal finish line.

So now I'm saying to every reader, it's in you all along (i.e. the compass, the Holy Spirit) and He has made YOU the answer!

What or who are you the answer for? MANY. It's time to finish what He has started in you.

One month down, 11 to go until a new year. But let's do it differently. Instead of a year or even a time frame becoming the marker, let's mark success by three things:

1. Doing it NOW (today). Ie. working on something towards the goal.

2. Allow the "it" to be determined by our compass, the Holy Spirit.

3. The only announcement should be when you've move "do" to DONE.

I've shared in one of my books that people will celebrate you to a place of stuck. Your seemingly apex may be another's ceiling. & that's okay for them but that isn't your stopping point. We all have areas well God has placed exceedingly on us also known as your lane. Keep going! Marginal success or completing a lot in the eyes of man is nothing if you're lacking the fullness of what the Lord has created you to be.

Finally, I'll share this...my Godsister and I have monthly meetings to discuss our goals. At the end of every year, we create and use the rest of the calendar year to execute. To avoid Dopamine moments, we only talk about our plans in December. Every meeting subsequent must be what we've done in the furtherance of that goal or it's not discussed. The plan is only revised if the goal of completion wasn't done for that meeting month.

I want us all to not just start but FINISH what God began in us. All of this (life) doesn't matter if we aren't doing it according to His will.

‭‭Acts‬ ‭20:24‬ ‭KJV‬‬

[24] But none of these things move me, neither count I my life dear unto myself, so that I might FINISH my course with joy, and the ministry, which I have received of the Lord Jesus, to testify the gospel of the grace of God.

That degree, phone call with a family member, book, invention etc. is connected to your Next and another's breakthrough.

For today, identify one accountability partner. Set a goal and REALISTIC plan of execution. Only discuss what you're going to do ONE time. Sure, make it fun! Vision board, journal, discuss it over lunch...whatever. Make no more announcements until it's finished. The only conversation should be with your accountability partner on what you did "new" in the advancement of the goal.

This time we FINISH & we're doing it now.

Happy January!

I can't BEGIN to explain how this post has blessed me!! I am printing it to reference back to when those "dopamine moments" get me high and then cause me to STOP!! Whew, thank you soooo much for sharing!! All I have is NOW, and I must work the works of Him that sent me while it is day... the night is coming!!

Great post as always Ebony! I read in one of my devotionals the other day that procrastination is the arrogant assumption that God owes you another chance to do tomorrow what He gave you a chance to do today.  I have had an issue in the past with starting, only to pause for long periods of time of not see a thing into completion. Mainly, due to of a flawed perception that I do not have the resources necessary or I have more time to complete that which God has assigned me to do or just overwhelm. Self sabotage! I loved the Dorothy analogy you used. We have what we need all along.  We just have to go in the…

Self-sabatoge can be so sneaky. Thankfully, we have the Holy Spirit as an advantage & insight. All is well.
